Consultancy
I bring a unique blend of professional expertise, academic knowledge, and compassionate insight to every consultation. My Postgraduate Diploma in Pastoral Leadership focused children’s social, emotional, and mental health, and I also hold a Level 2 accreditation from Place2Be: An Introduction to Child Counselling.
With a B.Ed (Hons) degree and over 28 years of experience as a class teacher, senior leader, and mentor, I combine classroom practice with leadership and training expertise. I have successfully supported schools in raising standards, families in navigating challenges, and individual children in building confidence, resilience, and curiosity.
Colleagues and families value my ability to bridge home and school, create safe spaces for honest conversations, and design tailored, practical strategies that lead to real and lasting impact.
Consultancy with Schools
At Wheal Education Ltd, my vision is to support educators in creating learning environments rich in self-belief, authenticity, and curiosity.
I bring extensive experience as both a class teacher and senior leader, working with schools to deliver consultancy that is practical, relational, and rooted in evidence. My postgraduate research focused on leading people and organisational change, particularly upskilling staff to improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
Past experience includes:
Delivering parent workshops to strengthen engagement in reading and writing
Leading staff INSET across the English curriculum, including vision and strategy
Facilitating whole-school reform around culture and values
Liaising between home and school to strengthen collaboration and secure positive outcomes for learners
Teacher and Teaching Assistant Support
I have many years’ experience mentoring and coaching teachers and teaching assistants, with a focus on building confidence, skills, and sustainable practice.
Support can include:
Bespoke training sessions tailored to staff needs
Mentoring and coaching for professional and personal growth
Support with planning and assessment
Team-teaching to model approaches in practice
Developing a positive classroom and playground culture
Consulting with Families
I work closely with families to help them understand each child’s unique requirements and to restore or strengthen connections where relationships may have become strained.
My approach is tailored to the needs of each child and family. Necessarily iterative by nature, these projects often focus on social, emotional, and mental health, enabling children to build resilience and confidence.
I have experience supporting families who may be:
Coping with terminal illness or bereavement
Going through fostering or adoption processes
Managing parental separation or conflict
Looking for strategies to address bullying or friendship issues
Supporting a child with anxiety or social difficulties
Seeking guidance on learning difficulties
Exploring the impact of neurotype differences such as ADHD, or ASD
I have effectively liaised between home and school to improve collaboration and ensure the child’s needs are at the centre.
Home Educators
For home educating families, I provide flexible, personalised support to design and deliver inspiring learning experiences. This can include:
Tailoring learning to your child’s interests
Approaches that bring curiosity and joy into learning
Creative and practical resources to inspire motivation
Topic design and project planning
Curriculum guidance and coverage
Whether working with schools, families, or both, my focus remains the same: to help every learner feel supported, understood, and empowered to thrive.
